Police Officer Harry E. Shore, Sr. Ocean City Police Department July 29, 1927 Motorcycle Officer Harry Shore was killed in the line of duty when he was fatally injured in an accident while answering a fire call. The accident occurred on a Friday afternoon at 29th Street and West Avenues, Ocean City, and resulted in the officer being thrown from the motorcycle.  For some reason the motorcycle made a sudden stop as the officer approached the fire scene. Officer Shore became the first officer from Cape May County killed in the line of duty. He left behind a wife and 5 year old son. Close Window
