State Trooper Russell Moesta, 25, a resident of Ventnor, was killed on a Wednesday morning when his patrol car slammed into a freight train at a crossing in Fairfield Township. He was assigned to the Port Norris barracks just six months, after he graduated as class valedictorian from the State Police Academy. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he was survived by his wife, Marie, and two sons.
