Patrolman Clayton Graham, 42, was shot to death by an assailant who was upset over a traffic violation ticket. The killer, who was apprehended that same day, confronted the uniformed officer as he was getting in his personal car after finishing his work shift early on a Monday morning. A World War II veteran, Graham served on the department over thirteen years. He was survived by his wife, Beatrice, and six children. Patrolman Graham was the first member of the ACPD killed in the line of duty.
