Deputy Chief Charles J. Faisst
Pleasantville Fire Department
November 2, 1976
Deputy Fire Chief Charles J. Faisst, 49, a veteran of the Pleasantville Fire Department responded to a call that turned out to be an arson fire, set by an intoxicated man arguing with his girlfriend.
Deputy Chief Faisst was the first to arrive at the scene. He was confronted by this man who told him there was a child inside. The intoxicated man then tried to prevent Deputy Chief Faisst from entering the residence by fighting with him.
There was no child in the building, and as a result of the confrontation with the intoxicated man, Deputy Chief Faisst died shortly after fighting the fire.
Deputy Chief Faisst was about to retire, but instead left his wife Carole, children, Nannette 12 and Joseph 6, and Charles and Ronald Faisst, who were Police Officers at the time.
