Motorcycle Patrolman Donnelly, 28, was killed after being thrown from his cycle after it hit a slick road spot at Ventnor and Evergreen Avenues in Longport.  He was pursuing a speeding car when the tragic accident occurred on a Tuesday.  Officer Donnelly, who was on the Margate force a year and a half, left behind a wife and four-month-old son.  This was the first known line of duty death in Atlantic County, NJ.
