Atlantic City Police Department
March 11, 2004

Sgt. Ken Brown, 52-year-old father of six, died after an accident Wednesday, March 10. Brown was returning to the police headquarters to fill out paperwork after breaking up the highly publicized fight at Atlantic City High School, when he had a car accident in front of the station at approximately 9:18 p.m. An unidentified citizen found Brown in the car and used his radio to call for help, but he could not be revived after authorities took him to the Atlantic City Medical Center.

"He was a good police man, and that will be his legacy," said Police Chief Arthur Snellbaker.

Brown spent the last 27 years in the police force and served in many police departments throughout his career. In 2001, he became a sergeant. He also served as an investigator, hostage negotiator and was a member of the Army National Guard. Brown was remembered by his colleagues as someone who had a sense of fair play at work as well as someone who knew how to look stylish on the golf course.

He resided Galloway Township, New Jersey, and is survived by his wife and six children.
