Senior Corrections Officer Fred Baker, 35, was fatally stabbed by an inmate using a homemade knife in an unprovoked and malicious attack, while he was at his desk early on a Wednesday morning. He served at the Bayside State Prison, in Leesburg, NJ for ten years, and resided in the Rio Grande section of Cape May County. He was the first NJ Corrections Officer killed in the line of duty in more than twenty-five years. He is survived by his wife, Kelly, and two children.
